The Arts & Communities Team holds a brief to support and assist communities and organisations in Dumfries & Galloway to develop, plan and deliver new and sustainable cultural activities which contribute positively to regional social and economic regeneration.

Alan Thompson is Arts & Communities Co-ordinator for Annandale and Eskdale, and Team Leader for three coordinators, Louise Davies in the East covering Nithsdale, Mark Stoves for the West covering Stewartry and Winnie Cooper covering Wigtownshire. They are tasked with supporting communities and organisations to realise their ambitions, make the necessary connections, build networks, help seed activity through a small grants programme and to draw down advice, information and support for grass roots activity.

Marketing:
I market various events and projects initiated year round by DGAA artform and Area Development officers. During the late summer I work with the rest of the DGAA team to implement the marketing plan for GaelForce in partnership with promoters. Working with other members of staff, partners and promoters, I plan the collection of data at arts events across the region. I coordinate a diary of planned mailings, e-mailings and telephone campaigns, and put together the DGAA Newsletter to help to communicate events, projects and information across the region.
We do not currently have an Audience Development Officer so I am caretaking the new Dumfries & Galloway Audience Database (but we can update it and export lists).
