FILM - VIDEO & NEW MEDIA
Five of the principle towns in Dumfries and Galloway - Dumfries, Annan, Newton Stewart, Stranraer and Lockerbie - have cinema provision, either by commercial cinemas, or venues operated by charitable trusts.
Dumfries and Galloway Council also operates the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre, one of a national network of regional film theatres supported by Scottish Screen. The RBCFT programmes a wide variety of cinema including mainstream features, world cinema, experimental video, documentaries and educational material.
The South West Scotland Screen Commission markets the region as a location to the moving image industry and is able to provide a wide range of services including location finding and liaison between local service providers and government agencies.
Currently DGAA is exploring the provision of new media workshops for young people using existing IT facilities in the community.
