Dumfries and Galloway Arts, with the library services is setting up a pilot scheme to promote health and well-being for the people of Dumfries and Galloway. There are two parts to the scheme.

For voluntary organisations supporting clients moving back into the community from hospital, we will provide support to organise and run activities such as ‘meet the author’, reading groups, storytelling activities and creative writing opportunities. We are looking for a nominated person within each organisation with some time to plan and co-ordinate the activities within your organisation, a willingness to try something new and an interest in books, reading or creative activities in general and the benefits they bring to your clients.

We are also setting up a register for volunteers who would be willing to give time to literature-based activities such as reading to small groups or helping creative writing activities in care homes and day centres.

Please contact Carolyn Yates if you want to know more about either programme.
